What? A New Kitchen location?!

Hey there, lovely bear bunch!

It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? And boy, have we missed you! We hope the feeling is mutual because we’ve got some exciting updates to share with you about what we’ve been up to these past few months. So grab a cup of coffee (or whatever!), get comfy, and let’s catch up!

First and foremost, we want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has been a part of our journey over the past year. It’s truly mind-blowing to think that we’ve only been on this adventure since May 2023, and yet the love and support we’ve received from our incredible community have been nothing short of overwhelming.

When I first set out to start Black Bear Bakery, I never imagined it would evolve into what it is today. It began as a humble dream, a small part-time operation with no clear roadmap ahead. But fueled by passion and a vision for crafting something truly special, Black Bear Bakery came to life and made its debut at the St. Catharines Farmers Market.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room (or should I say, the bear in the bakery?) – the new kitchen debacle. Yep, last November hit us like a ton of bricks when we lost our shared kitchen space. Talk about unexpected plot twists! We were already gearing up for a move to a new, bigger space to accommodate our growing demand, but we didn’t think it’d happen this soon.

Cue the mad scramble to find a new kitchen space, all while juggling the chaos of the holiday season. Phew! It was a whirlwind, to say the least. Thankfully, with the unwavering support of our amazing friends, family, and community, we managed to land on our paws and find a temporary spot to whip up our delicious treats until the end of the holiday rush.

But fear not, dear friends, because every cloud has a silver lining! We’re beyond thrilled to announce that we’ve teamed up with the awesome folks over at Turncoat Brewing Company to create a brand spankin’ new kitchen and retail space. Yep, you heard that right – we’re moving on up!

Since then, it’s been all hands on deck as we pour our hearts and souls into bringing this dream kitchen to life. Now, we may have been a tad overambitious with our timelines (oops!), aiming to have everything up and running by February 2024. But hey, when it comes to renovating and building a business from scratch, delays are just par for the course, am I right?

From permit hiccups to contractor woes and equipment snafus, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges along the way. But guess what? We’re almost there! We’re currently putting the finishing touches on the space and crossing our paws that we’ll be ready to rock ‘n’ roll by mid-April. Just in time to dive headfirst into the Spring and Summer market scene – woohoo!

And hey, if you’ve got any wild flavour ideas brewing in that creative brain of yours, we’re all ears! Seriously, your feedback means the world to us, so don’t be shy.
